Boy Scouts of America

Official Sites

The Boy Scout movement was founded in England by Baden-Powell at the turn of the century. Following the first scout campout at Brownsea Island, the movement quickly spread across England and around the globe.
In 1910 the movement was founded in America. American youth and their parents quickly adopted the program coast to coast. Over the years the scouting movement has grown and evolved. In addition to traditional Boy Scouts, there are now Tiger Cubs, Cub Scouts, Venturers, Learning for Life, and other programs.
Last year, there were over 5 million youth involved in scouting, and 1.3 million adult volunteers assisting them.
The scouting program weaves the teaching of strong traditional values and life skills to youth with programs of fun and adventure.
